  • Strip roulette won $28.88 million on 249 tables in September, up 28.40%, keeping 21.71% of the money players bought in with.
  • Strip craps won $22.35 million on 178 tables, down 33.83%, with hold at 14.36% against 16.68% over the past 12 months.
  • Roulette’s gain came from hold, which rose from 16.50% a year ago, while estimated play slipped about 2% on 18 fewer tables.

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Strip roulette tables won $28.88 million in September, up 28.40% from a year earlier, while Strip craps tables won $22.35 million, down 33.83%, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s September revenue report. Roulette outearned craps by $6.5 million for the month, reversing last September’s order, though craps still leads over the past 12 months, $331.4 million to $296.6 million.

Hold, Not Play, Lifted Roulette

The board’s win percent, known as hold, measures what the casino kept of the money players bought in with, called drop. The Strip’s 249 roulette tables kept 21.71% in September, or $21.71 of every $100 exchanged for chips. That compares with 18.35% over the past 12 months and with 16.50% in the board’s September 2025 report.

Dividing win by hold puts September’s roulette drop at about $133 million, roughly 2% below the $136 million of last September, when the Strip ran 267 roulette tables. The board adjusts win percent for credit play, so the figure is an estimate.

The estimate still shows that the 28.40% gain came from a 5.21-point jump in hold rather than from more play. At last September’s 16.50% hold, this September’s drop would have produced about $21.9 million, less than craps actually won.

None of that changes what the game pays. A double-zero wheel pays 35-to-1 on a single number against true odds of 37-to-1, and that two-unit gap, two pockets out of 38, is a 5.26% house edge, about $5.26 lost per $100 bet, that no month alters.

Hold at legal casinos divides by buy-ins rather than bets, so it runs far above the edge, and a single month can move it several points on short-run results. The report does not say why hold moved, and a 28% jump in a casino’s roulette win says nothing about the odds a player faces.

Craps Lost Both Play and Hold

Craps held 14.36% in September, against 16.68% over 12 months and 17.09% in the board’s September 2025 report. The estimated drop was about $156 million, roughly a fifth below the $197 million of last September, on 178 tables, one more than a year earlier.

By that estimate the game still drew more money than roulette, about $156 million to $133 million, but kept $14.36 of every $100 against $21.71 at the wheel. Craps usually holds less than roulette, 16.68% to 18.35% over 12 months, which fits a game whose main bets carry small edges. The pass line carries a 1.41% house edge, and the odds bet behind it pays at true odds and carries none.

Both Moves Cut Against The 12-Month Trend

Over the 12 months ending Sept. 30, Strip roulette won $296.65 million, down 15.42%, while craps won $331.38 million, up 3.25%. For July through September, roulette was down 8.31% at $74.19 million and craps was down 7.30% at $82.24 million. September’s roulette surge is a rebound inside a falling year, and the craps slide is a sharp break from a rising one.

Pit Poker Games Split

Ultimate Texas Hold’em won $12.89 million on 125 tables, up 7.78%, and kept 23.97% of drop, above its 22.58% 12-month hold. 3-Card Poker won $4.56 million on 67 tables, down 17.91%, at a 31.38% hold, and Pai Gow Poker won $4.43 million on 78 tables, down 15.94%, at 19.37%.

The board’s table, counter and card games category, which also holds baccarat, blackjack and the sports pool, totaled $240.89 million, down 3.02%.

Roulette Also Outearned Craps Statewide

Across Nevada, roulette won $33.57 million, up 20.28%, with a 21.09% hold, while craps won $32.61 million, down 25.09%, at 14.73%. The Strip supplied about 86% of the state’s roulette win and about 69% of its craps win.
